Recent leverden we een bijdrage aan de bouw van de 50 kW bench scale, een belangrijke stap in de opschaling van deze innovatieve technologie naar industri\u00eble schaal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cruciale stap naar industri\u00eble toepassing<br \/>\n<\/strong>\u201cVia haalbaarheidsstudies, procesverbeteringen en fundamenteel onderzoek werken we in het Brightsite Plasmalab aan de industri\u00eble opschaling van plasmatechnologie. Dat begint bij fundamenteel onderzoek op kleine schaal en bij een lage Technology Readiness Level (TRL). De volgende stap is toegepast onderzoek op bench scale om daarna toe te werken naar de realisatie van een pilotplant en mogelijk nog een demoplant om uiteindelijk de stap naar een commerci\u00eble plant te kunnen maken\u201d, vertelt Wilbert Derks, vanuit Sitech actief als projectmanager bij het Brightsite Plasmalab. \u201cWe proberen het proces nu al net zo te runnen als het uiteindelijk op commerci\u00eble schaal moet gaan. Een eerste cruciale stap naar toepassing\u201d, aldus Derks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>High power plasma arc<br \/>\n<\/strong>Derks: \u201cOnze set-up is wereldwijd uniek, een high power plasma arc voor methaan plasmapyrolyse. Naast de tests die we uitvoeren met de arc-reactor, bouwen we parallel een calculatiemodel, waarmee we proberen te voorspellen en verklaren wat uit de reactor komt. We gaan verschillende configuraties testen en vergelijken met het model. Door deze twee te combineren kunnen we theorie (model) en praktijk verbinden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Samenwerking met partners<br \/>\n<\/strong>Sitech werkt hierbij nauw samen met andere Brightsite partners, waaronder TNO en Maastricht University.
