Royal HaskoningDHV and Sitech Services join forces to provide asset management services for Chemelot

Twelve-year partnership renewed with a focus on innovation

Amersfoort/Geleen, the Netherlands, 30 January 2018 - Royal HaskoningDHV and Sitech Services have agreed on a new form of collaboration for providing asset management services for the Chemelot chemical site in the Province of Limburg, the Netherlands. The partnership is focused on increased innovation and more intensive collaboration to enable Chemelot to function optimally. The multi-million euro contract was signed by Marc Dassen, CEO of Sitech Services and Marije Hulshof, Director Industry & Buildings at Royal HaskoningDHV.

Under contract to Sitech Services, Royal HaskoningDHV has been responsible for the management and maintenance of Chemelot's infrastructure and facilities since 2006. Chemelot is a chemical industrial complex covering 850 hectares, located in Geleen in the Netherlands, and includes multinationals such as DSM, SABIC and OCI Nitrogen. Chemelot incorporates no less than 80 kilometres of roads, 50 kilometres of railway tracks, 16 bridges and flyovers, an inland harbour and 195 kilometres of sewage pipes. The partnership enables companies that make use of this infrastructure to focus on their core activities, knowing that the functionality of this infrastructure is safeguarded.

Sitech Services CEO Marc Dassen is enthusiastic about this new form of collaboration:

“This way we work shoulder to shoulder on realising the Chemelot Vision 2025, in which Chemelot is the most competitive and sustainable chemicals and materials site in West Europe.”

Data-driven performance improvements
Innovation is a spearhead of the new contract. Sitech Services and Royal HaskoningDHV will be working on new solutions and working methods that will enable Chemelot's facilities and infrastructure to contribute to the realisation of the ambitions of the chemical companies at the site. For example, the existing IT landscape will be enriched in support of predictive maintenance and the team will be installing sensors to collect data for the purpose of predicting and improving essential inspections of specific infrastructure.

A single team
Different from previous asset management contracts, both parties will now be working as a single team. Asset Manager Royal HaskoningDHV and Asset Owner Sitech Services will be making use of each other's expertise within this team, so that available capacity is efficiently deployed. The team's priorities are safety, compliance with laws and regulations, contributing to Chemelot's sustainability goals and optimising the Total Cost of Ownership.

Marije Hulshof:

"We have been working with Sitech Services for the past twelve years. With increased innovation from a single team, we are giving the partnership a new impetus. We are proud of this and as a company, this is precisely where our strength lies."

The new contract and this new form of collaboration went into effect on 1 January 2018.
